Shenzhen, Jul 08, 2009 Obviously, the company has some changes since it has been merged and renamed, it has moved to Chengdu West Export Processing Zone which Intel??s factory is located at while it was in Chengdu Software Park three years ago. The buildings in the industrial areas are not high, but it looks more like the workshops in Silicon Valley of the United States. SourcePhotonics has two own buildings within this industrial area; it has added one building recently. The factory area can be extended over 14,000 square meters, and those three buildings all have a vivid logo. The expanding area of the new facilities is exclusively for the production of optical modules, with the aim of exceeds the production capacity to 1M transceivers per month. Furthermore, the previous MT team has also taken place in the larger changes. Several companies?? senior managers have left after the merger whom previously most familiar with the industry. Presently, Mr. Weiming Li is in charge of development and production in China, who used to work in Oplink. He is deemed for our experienced professional manager of the industry. Moreover, more and more foreigners have been found in the company. In Shenzhen mainland China, it has an R & D center focusing on transponders and OSA products where Chengdu R&D center is mainly responsible for thedevelopment of optical OSA products and transceiver modules. With the PPT document that Dr. Yong Lu showed me, the Hsinchu center has well-established devices of development and production for semiconductor laser chip and detector chip which has equipped with seven doctoral-level R&D employees. It is an important chip development center of Source Photonics which can develop and produce DFB, APD and all kinds of chips. After the merger, lots of staffs of Luminent Taiwan are also transferred to Source Photonics Chengdu. There are more than 10 doctors in modules R&D department of Source Photonics. In addition, there are 6 doctors in OSA development It is those Dr??s outstanding support and the development of younger staff which is correponding with the super R&D capability. Dr.Yong Lu pointed out that they have been taking the lead in the global launch of 10G EPON module of SFP + specification. In the field of PON modules, Source Photonics is not only leading in GPON module with the largest market share, but also Source Photonics maintain 40% to 50% market share in EPON module market. Moreover, they exclusively developed a GEPON module to support Ethernet function that is directly applied to the Ethernet switch, simplifying PON network topology, in high end 40G module; they are developing 10GX4 products of CFP specifications. It seems that there is not big influence on Source Photonics which was brought by the merger. Before and after the merger, the sales growth of Source Photonics?? optical module products is also escalating by a relatively uniform growth rate. Data and telecommunications modules maintain the same growth rate. I asked Dr. Yong Lu; what has been changed before and after the merger in the end? Dr. Lu said that; in his view, the changes seem to be very small. From Fiberxon to Source Photonics, the core resource of the company is not lost; on the contrary, it is enhanced.
