[advertise]广告[/advertise]OTTAWA, Nov. 24, 2009 – OneChip Photonics today announced that the company has received the 2009 Outstanding Technology Company Award from the IEEE Ottawa Section. The award was presented to OneChip on Nov. 20, during the 65th Annual General Meeting and celebration of the 125th anniversary of IEEE held in Ottawa.
Edging out several other nominees and gaining recognition for its local high-tech industry talent and achievements, OneChip was honored for its breakthrough approach and Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC)-based optical transceivers, which will enable the widespread deployment of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH), and new business and consumer broadband applications.
“IEEE is proud to recognize OneChip Photonics for its innovation and accomplishments during the past year,” said Raed Abdullah, chair, IEEE Ottawa Section. “The combination of offering the only fully integrated FTTH transceiver technology on the market, owning its core technical expertise and key Intellectual Property, attracting top engineering talent, and being backed by world-class Canadian and U.S. investors, makes OneChip a well-deserved recipient of this award.”
Jim Hjartarson, CEO of OneChip Photonics, said, “We are honored to receive this award from the Ottawa Section of the IEEE. This has been an exciting year for OneChip, as we’ve distinguished ourselves as an innovator in the Ottawa high-tech community and the optical communications industry and helped create a new era in photonics integration. Our technology will enable system providers and carriers, for the first time, to deliver increasingly higher speed broadband services to end users over their fiber-based optical access networks, while keeping per-user costs low.”
