Hugh 3G investments from Chinese government made year 2009 a very good year for most of communication products manufactures in China. But they may not expect the same thing happened in year 2010. Someone who are close to the 3 big carriers, China Telecom, China Unicom, China Mobile,just told local media that it is a sure thing that their CAPEX will decrease in year 2010. Several weeks ago, on China Telecom's 2010 working meeting, Mr. Wang,xiaochu, CEO of China Telecom has said that their total investment will decrease more than 20 billion RMB. An analyst pointed out:"Reducing CAPEX is helpful for China Telecom to gain profit as soon as possible. The infrasture construction of China Telecom has nearly finished, there is no need for large scale investment again. Compared to 2 other competitors, China Telecom's 3G network has at least 2 year advantage. " In fact up to July 2009, China Telecom has finished most part of its 3G network construction. Not only China Telecom will reduce CAPEX, Mr. Wang, jianzhou,CEO of China Mobile also said in an interview that China Mobile will continue to reduce CAPEX in the coming years. The reason behind that is that China Mobile's development has been slowing compared to before. Also equipment's price is decreasing. In 2009, total investment of China Mobile is 133.9 billion RMB, 2.4 billion less than in year 2008. For China Unicom, they already published their 2 year CAPEX plan which is 100billion RMB. Investment in year 2010 will be 40billion, 20billion less than in year 2009. Facing such challange, Both Huawei and ZTE began put more focous in overseas market. They hope they can gain more market share from economic recovery of the world. It was said that Huawei has send all supporting engineers for WiMAX to north America, they are betting they can have a better result in North America market in year 2010. Also not every analyse are pessimic for telecom industry in year 2010. One analyse from Zhongjin security thinks that compared to 2009, equipment manufacture's profit level may be better this year because they don't need to send many free equipments to customers.
