VOAs can improve the performance of high-capacity (10 to 100 Gbps) DWDM systmes used in metro and long-haul network services by maintaining the optical power in each channel at optimal levels. The new Gigalight MEMS based VOA exhibits very high performance with attenuation range greater than 40dB, response time less than 3ms, PDL less than 0.3dB and TDL typically less than 1.0dB. Also with its high stability and reliability, the product is ideal for applications where multiple DWDM channels must be attenuated simultaneously.
