40G CFP LR4 Optical Transceiver
InnoLight’s 40 Gb/s CFP transceiver module is designed in accordance with the 40GBASE-LR4 of the IEEE P802.3ba standard and the newly adopted CFP MSA. The module converts 4 inputs channels of 10G electrical data to 4 CWDM optical signals and then multiplexes them into a single channel for 40G optical transmission. Reversely on the receiver side, the module de-multiplexes a 40G optical input into 4 CWDM channels of optical signals and then converts them to electrical data for 4 output channels.
The central wavelengths of the 4 CWDM channels are 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331nm as members of the CWDM wavelength grid defined in ITU-T G694.2. For SMF applications, the transceiver module has an operating distance up to 10km.
The innovative design has all the fibers inside the CFP package configured without any splicing or non-permanent connector. Also, fiber routings are neatly organized and fixed inside a SUS304 container. For mechanical and environmental reliability, the WDM sections are aligned and secured to the container by laser welder, and then aligned and affixed with each CWDM laser or PIN/TIA TO to form an integrated structure of TOSA or ROSA.
The CFP form factor is essential for next-generation Ethernet networks as it is currently the only pluggable form factor capable of supporting the 10km transmission distance. Moreover, the CFP form factor is designed to accommodate 100G optoelectronics devices, thus providing a seamless transition to 100G from 40G without changing the socket design.
10G SFP+ ER Optical Transceiver
InnoLight’s 10Gb/s SFP+ ER transceiver module complies with the 802.3ae 10GBASE-ER/EW electrical interface and the SFF-8431 specifications for enhanced 8.5 and 10 Gigabit SFP+ small form factor pluggable module. The module uses 1550nm cooled EML transmitter with TEC and PIN photo-detector for single mode fiber up to 40km. It has a 2-wire interface for SFF 8472 digital diagnostic monitoring interface. Normally operates in 0-70C case temperature, the module can also support extended temperature operation. The module uses an all-metal housing for superior EMI performance with a low power consumption of less than 1.5W. The SFP+ER transceiver from Innolight answers the pending demand from switch and router OEMs for 40km transmission with SFP+ form factor transceivers. Innolight targets introduction of SFP+ZR optical transceiver for 80km in 3Q 2010.
