[advertise]广告[/advertise]April 7,2010, Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, According to local media, Zhongguang(http://en.zggtx.com), an integrated fiber optics product manufacturer located in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, will invest 1.2 billion RMB (170million USD) in Wenzhou to build a manufacturing base which can produce optical communication products in value of 10 billion RMB in 5 years. Wenzhou government showed unusual enthusiasm towards this cooperation. Before they signed agreement with Zhongguang, they invited Dr. Yang, Jianlong from development research center of state council to give them a report on optical communication industry. The local government considers this cooperation an example of their new policy on developing high-tech industry. Located in south of Shanghai, Wenzhou is famous for her small value product manufacturing industry around the country. From the report, Zhongguang claims to have the most advanced manufacturing process on ceramic ferrule, core of fiber connector. The future Wenzhou manufacturing base is mainly for this product. According to another report published on the First Financial Journal on March 11, Zhongguang's founder, Mr. Liu,shunfeng is a native Wenzhou businessman. Like many other successful businessmen in Wenzhou, Liu only has a high school diploma. He began his business from a small factory, but just in several years, he became a millionaire. It was in September 1999 that he entered optical communication industry. At that time, someone just told him fiber optic connector will have huge market around the world. But this decision nearly made him bankrupt several years later. In order to have competing advantage in fiber optics connector industry, Liu decided to make his own ferrule products in 2002. 4 years later, he moved his factory from Wenzhou to Zhangjiagang, a city in Suzhou, Jiangsu province. Nobody knows how Liu and his factory earns money in so many years without key products, but from the report, in early year 2009, Zhongguang has finally manufactured ferrules in volume. Liu often owes his success to the help from local governments. Zhongguang is just one of the new fiber optics companies which attract public attention recently in mainland China. These companies often are located in some inner cities, and have much cooperation with local government. They often claim to have some advanced technology, but their products are far from market certification. Take Zhongguang as an example, we don’t know if their ferrule manufacturing technology is really advanced, but we know there are already several ferrule manufactures in mainland China like Tscom and Upcera in Shenzhen, 3 Circle in Shantou.
