The investigation will be launched on how much the dumping affects local fiber industry immediately. MOFCOM once ruled to levy anti-dumping duties on dispersion unshifted fiber from Japan, Korea and US on January 1st, 2005, the period is 5 years. On December 31 of year 2009, MOFCOM announced to keep the anti-dumping duty on dispersion unshifted fiber originated from Japan and Korea, but cancel the duty on fiber from US. This decision was demanded by local fiber manufactures including Wuhan Yangtze, Jiangsu Fasten, Wuhan Fiberhome Furukawa and Zhejiang Futong. According to a letter send by them to MOFCOM, they insisted that if government cancel the anti-dumping duty toward Japanese and Korean fiber manufactures, they will dump their fiber products to China again. Five years ago, China's fiber industry was in the darkest period because of shortage of demand and largely expanded manufacturing ability after fiber optics bubble in year 2000. Facing their difficult times in the history, companies like Wuhan Yangtze and Jiangsu Fasten demanded MOFCOM to launch anti-doping investigation. Although companies like Corning tried their best to avoid the anti-dumping duty, MOFCOM finally ruled that there is dumping from foreign manufactures. The rule of MOFCOM was acclaimed to be a victory of China's fiber optics industry. Because of China's 3G roll out beginning from year 2008, China fiber optics industry experienced an unprecedentedly booming period in year 2009. But although revenue of each fiber and cable manufactures increases quickly, their profit increase doesn't synchronize with their revenue because of low price of the fiber products.
