5/27/2010, (chinadaily.com.cn) Workers at the Guangdong Foshan Honda Plant today continued to strike for a third day after failing to reach an agreement in a dispute over pay, according to iqilu.com.
Employees have refused Honda's previous two offers and are calling for a 2,000 to 2,500 yuan monthly salary.
The Foshan branch strike has completely affected Honda's business in China, closing all other factories, due to the walkout causing a breakdown in the supply chain of manufacturing parts.
When asked when the business could restart, one Honda representative said it depended on the Foshan strike resolution.
The company’s salary scheme is divided into five ranks, and under every rank, there are fifteen sub-ranks. There are 75 ranks in total. A source claimed to move up the five normally takes 15 years.
Employees have voiced their objection to the raise, but so far the company has not made any further offers.
