6/10/2010, By Jia Xu (chinadaily.com.cn), Authorities predict that by the end of 2011, China will have 400,000 to 500,000 3G stations, allowing 40 millions users to surf online at the same time, xinhuanews.com.cn reported Thursday.

Statistics show by the end of March this year, China had 778.7 million mobile phone users. Since 2009, when 3G technology was first promoted in the cell phone market, the number of 3G users has reached 3 million.

Ding Wenwu from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said there's still room for growth in the 3G market. By the end of 2009, China had 233 million mobile phone users who surfed Internet, and 230 million of them were 2G users.
