8/11/2010, ZHOUQU, Gansu - The death toll in the massive mudslide in northwest China's Gansu Province has risen to 1,117, with 627 still missing, local authorities said Wednesday.
A total of 567 survivors had received clinical treatment and further 64 seriously injured had been hospitalized as of 5:20 pm, the provincial civil affairs bureau said in a statement.
The death toll stood at 702 Tuesday, with 1,042 others missing.
The People's Liberation Army (PLA) had dispatched 5,300 soldiers, 150 vehicles, four helicopters and 20 speed boats to Zhouqu, said Du Kangzhan, an publicity official at the PLA's Lanzhou Area Command.
The mudslide hit Zhouqu County in Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Gannan early Sunday.
