September 8, 2010, Bigger exhibition space, luxury booth decoration, more new faces, these are the impressions of us to the CIOE2010, the largest fiberoptics and optoelectronic product show in China.
According to the organizer, compared to last year's show, the total exhibition space increases by nearly 30%. This breaks a record in recent years' CIOE. The reasons of this expanding may be that more companies care about their enterprise image, and new companies are eager to use this opportunity to demonstrate their ability.
Walking on the floor of the CIOE show, you can really feel how hot this market is. Everybody is satisfied with their performance. But you can still capture some worries about next year's market from those exhibitors.
Anniversary: This year is the 30th year of WTD, and also the 10th year anniversary of Wuxi ZTE. You can easily feel the joyfulness from their booth decoration, especially from the wall of smiling faces of employees in WTD's booth.
Style Change: Neophotonics and Hioptel both change their booth style. Neophotonics want to demonstrate their innovation. Hioptel want to show their green concept. A marketing guy from Hioptel told us that their business is really good now. They would like to catch up the trend of green environment protecting trend.
PLC is still hot: As competitor of PLC product supplier, sales manager of Southern communication, Mr. Chen long is very familiar with PLC market. He told us a joke this time to describe how hot this market is. "It is really a "everyone investment" situation. Both the PHDs returned from overseas, and the local municipal officers are entering this business. It is said in some part of Zhejiang province, even a small village's head knows how big this market is." President of Broadex, the former leader on PLC splitter in China,Mr. Zhu wei told us their product nearly lost the competition ability on price level.
PIC and Onechip: It was last year's CIOE that Onechip made their debut of their PIC transceiver products. In this year's show, Onechip makes a further step; they make a live system show based on their PIC products. According to product VP of OneChip, Andy Weirich, "Chinese customers like cost down, Onechip's idea is just cost down. "
New faces: "We earned money last year, so we come out this year." That is a joke, but that is also truth about those new companies in this year's CIOE. According to our statistics, there are nearly more than 20 new faces in this year's show, including Wuhan national optoelectronic laboratory, Korean PLC chip manufacturer PPI, a new dispersion compensation module manufacturer HongTuo who boasts to have the smallest, the most accurate DCM with lowest attenuation; FTTH focused fast optical connector manufacturer ZHongtian Fiber etc.
