11/28/2010,Mr. Austin Na, CEO and Co-Chairman of O-Net Communications (Group) Limited (“O-Net” or the “Group”;HKEx: 877), has won the Young Industrialist Awards of Hong Kong 2010 for his contribution to the industry and society of Hong Kong.
Mr. Na joined O-Net as Chief Executive Officer and has been responsible for the Group’s overall corporate strategy, management team development and daily operations since 2002. From the outset, O-Net has been engaged principally in the supply of passive optical networking subcomponents, components, modules and subsystems employed in high-speed telecommunications and data communications networks, it is now one of the top five global suppliers focusing on next generation networking applications capable of 40Gbps and 100Gbps.
Mr. Na said, “I am much honoured to have won this award. I wish to thank all of our business partners, my family and employees of the Group for their continuous support over the years. This achievement serves not only as a recognition of our efforts, but also as an encouragement for us to continue delievering the best business performance and to strengthen the leadership of the Group in the market.”
Under Mr. Na’s leadership, the Group has been listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 29 April 2010 with great success. With the integration of telecommunications, broadcasting and internet industries now occurring in Mainland China, O-Net is set on capturing still more opportunities by way of next-generation networks in order to enhance its competitive advantage and to boost its profitability. In early November, the Group has launched tunable dispersion compensators (“TDC”) for 40Gbps transmission systems which has a wide variety of features to deliver accurate dynamic control over chromatic dispersion to help manage time-dependent dispersion effects in high speed communication networks. This launch demonstrates O-Net’s successful efforts in research and development which enables exceptionally innovative product development and speed to market of leading edge products.
Mr. Na concluded, “Leveraging the strong demand for fiber optic networking driven by the convergence of communications technologies in China, we are confident that O-Net’s efficient and flexible manufacturing model will serve as a solid foundation for us to capture the enormous business opportunities in the Greater China region.”
Organised by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries since 1988, the Young Industrialist Awards of Hong Kong honours outstanding industrialists for their achievements and commitment to aiding development of the manufacturing industry and encourages them to contribute their expertise to the economic development of Hong Kong. Nominees for the Awards have to go through a strict selection process conducted by a judging panel comprising senior government policy-makers, experienced industrialists and leading academics.
