BEIJING - An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale jolted the Dongyuan county of Heyuan city in south China's Guangdong Province at 2:34 am Beijing Time Thursday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter, with a depth of 13 km, was initially determined to be at 24.0 degrees north latitude and 114.5 degrees east longitude.
