VI Systems GmbH, a leader in ultra-high speed optical components for data communications, introduces the A50-150C driver integrated circuit for optical data transmission application suitable for driving vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs). The target applications are short reach optical interconnects for data center and high-performance computing applications. The driver chip is designed for a serial data rates of up 54 Gbit/s. The A50-150C is specified for the next next generation of directly modulated optical chips. The device features a differential signal input and several control functions to optimize the signal quality. The A50-150C driver IC is designed for current modulation of low capacitance VCSEL. The supply voltage is specified with 3.3V. The power consumption is 70 mW-150mW depending on the modulation current. The die size dimensions are 1000 µm x 600 µm.
