Broadex Technologies (Shenzhen Stock Exchange 300548), a provider of optoelectronic components based in China, today announced that it is sampling high performance 400Gbps QSFP-DD DR4 transceivers based on a new state-of-the-art silicon photonics (SiPh) platform. The modules use SiPh chips that integrate a number of active and passive optoelectronic components, 3D packaging technology and industry-leading 7nm DSP chipsPackaged with proprietary low loss optical coupling techniques, the modules feature excellent signal quality and channel consistency with very low bit error rate (10-9 without FEC) and TDECQ (as low as 0.6dB). The Broadex modules are uniquely suited to enable datacenter operators to address increasing bandwidth demand by upgrading 100G-centric network to 400Gbps.

“Broadex has been working with industry leading partners for the past year to develop a 400Gbps SiPh transceiver that offers superb product performance and improved yield to enable high volume production. “I am glad that results obtained so far, including live interoperability tests, indicate that we are on the right path to provide datacenter customers with a very cost-effective product to support their growing bandwidth demand.” said Dr. Wei Zhu, CEO of Broadex Technologies. “400Gbps EML-based solutions have been challenged to meet the volume expectations, which has become a constraint on the evolution of datacenter networks toward higher bandwidth interconnects. With the development of SiPh technology and its inherent potential in power consumption and volume manufacturing, we expect our SiPh modules would become the preferred solution.

Broadex’s 400Gbps SiPh transceivers are available for sampling and are expected to begin volume production in the second half of this year.
